Dead Lakes is home to an array of animals. Herons, ibis, osprey, wood ducks, and dozens of other species make the Dead Lakes home. Alligators and turtles are frequently found sunning themselves during sunny weather.

Located close to the tiny town of Wewahitchka, in north Gulf County Florida, you'll find the legendary Dead Lakes. This 6,700 acre body of water is part swamp, part river, part lake, and all pristine Florida wilderness. Very little of Dead Lakes is visible from the roads or boat launches, you must take to the water to get to the heart of it. And there is no better way to take it all in than a guided kayak trip or pontoon boat tour by a Coast Guard licensed captain.
